Accommodation for foreign medical students in Romania is usually arranged by the students themselves or via rental agents. Students prefer renting apartments on their own or sharing with other students. Some may make arrangements to live with Romanian families. The apartments in most university cities are affordable and in most cases include central heating, cable TV, furnished kitchens and rooms. Landlords usually ask for a 3 month deposit of rent in advance. Internet facilities and phone lines are also easy to arrange.
Prices of apartments range from €200 upwards. Sometimes students can find rooms for as little as €150. Apartments can easily be shared between 2-3 students depending on size. Medical students prefer to stay close by to the medical faculty, however most places in university cities are within walking distance. Over and above the rent of an apartment students will be required to pay a maintenance fee which covers the central heating, water and electricity. This can be between €70 - €150, with the more expensive months being during winter.
